college & dyslexia 4 Replies
Can anyone help me find a college for my son. He is dyslexic & dysgraphic. He also is very charismatic, gifted in sciences and technology, and could sell you a piece of the brooklyn bridge. His current grades are all A’s. His GPA and SAT aren’t great (he missed a lot of school for 3 years as he battled and overcame dysautonomia). He always talks about starting his own company. He needs an environment that understands his gifts and sees past the standardized tests. Does anyone know if such a place exists?
Getting insurance to pay 1 Reply
Do any of you know what billing codes to use for insurance companies that would assist with paying for psychological visits related to adult dyslexia issues? When I spoke to my insurance company, they said that a diagnosis code of a learning disability or dyslexia would not be covered but a code indicating symptoms of a learning disability or dyslexia would be covered. Have any of you heard of this before? If so, do you know what specific (number) code indicates “symptoms” of said. Thanks!

I am a parent of a 7-year old daughter who is dyslexic. I have had to advocate on her behalf to make sure that our school district would provide her with appropriate services to make sure that she was about to learn to read. After the district denied my request to administer an multi-factor evaluation (MFE), I filed a complaint against the district with the Ohio Dpmt. of Education (ODE).The school district was found in violation of on of my allegations and finally administered the MFE. The MFE results found my daughter eligible for services in reading and math.

I was wondering if any of you might know of a website that has complied court cases involving dyslexia and/or other learning disabilities. I think that this would be a good resource to see how the law had been applied within various people’s context. Thanks!
